This little Toll House at Sicklesmere Gate, on the Bury to Sudbury Road, was built by a Turnpike Trust in the 19th century as a lodge house with angular front. Currently it is a domestic property with only minor changes to the original tollhouse structure. External features: two-storeys on octagonal floor plan, with walls of brick, roof of slate, Gothick arch headed windows with tracery, an open porch with a Gothick arch headed doorway; blind window above porch for tollboard.
